It most likely is the skirmish where Dr Aaron J. was caught and taken to Ft. Donelson. If you work backwards from his release date from Ft Donelson on June 8 you get a capture date of about May 22 to 24. The testimony indicates he was held slightly more than 2 weeks at Donelson. We know the 5th Iowa was involved and several of the guerrillas were captured from the testimony. We know the arrest took place on Yellow Creek as Dr Aaron was headed to Old Shelton's store. Do you know where exactly on Yellow Creek the skirmish took place ?? as I know the location of Shelton's store (mouth of Bear Creek where it runs into Yellow Creek). The timing and place for May 22 always fit the best. But you cannot totally rule out an unnamed / unlisted skirmish on May 22 or 23 in the same area as another possibility.
