Late Captain of a company of Tennessee Home Guards and a scout and guide for U.S.
forces.
Resident of Dickson County
Authority was given him to organize the loyal men of his former neighborhood
into a company. With these men he co-operated with Union forces; guiding them
through the mountains of the Cumberland River.
Later, he was given authority to raise a company of cavalry. Received a Captains commission. Which was canceled, because the Dept. of Tenn. did not favir independent
commands.
I have a partial list of a Home Guard; that operated in Dickson County in 1865
protecting trussel-work and large amounts of wood belonging to the Gov't
