Thanks for the information. The story is an interesting one. History does "live again" when one's ancestors are involved in the story. One point about Dr. Marable -- It is always interesting that with an uncommon name and the title "doctor" there could be so many of them (I know of three now). The Dr. Marable from Montgomery County I did not know about. Thanks for letting me know about him. The other two are father and son from Waverly. In Dr. Marable's testimony at trial he is asked his home. He says he lives in Humphreys Co. near Waverly. I think this Dr. Marable is more likely the father of the father-son pair. Again, thanks for all the information. And I am glad you have read the book. I think you are correct -- I suspect they were indeed southern guerrillas.
