Notice relatives listed on the Citizen petition
(Hooper,Mathis,Willey) The names Dogras might be error in transcripton of Dotson?
You mention your ancestor, John Crowell as
a Union vet.
Pvt. John S. Crowel
Co. G 12th Tenn. Cav. U.S
enlisted at Charlotte,Dickson Co.
A few distant cousins of mine were with this
company at Charlotte(Mathis/Adams)
Two of my Ggg-grandfathers were captured
by this regiment near Charlotte and shot as guerrillas(Willey/Dotson)
I belive that the "Dr. Marrable" that Lieut.
Fitch is referring to ; is Dr. John Hartwell Marable Jr. (of Montgomery Co.) 1815-1875
He was born in Palmyra,Montgomery Co.
His photo is posted on Find A Grave
My thought after reading your book, is the men captured were indeed Southern
guerrillas. Although their friends/relatives gave good
alibies. The men gave away certain data that was suspicious to their activities. I believe that my two maybe three ancestors who were thought to be guerrillas/bushehackers and citizens of Dickson co. may have been associated with this band.
