John, you are correct. I must have looked at another one as well. Andrew Jackson Gardner was surrendered at Ft. Henry after shelling the snot out of the Union fleet. He was sent to Alton, IL and signed the Oath of Allegience. He returned home to Stewart County and joined Napiers Batt. of partisan rangers, who were mustered into the 10 TN Cav. at Waverly, TN in Dec. 1862. I have no records of his service after April 1863 and jumped to a wild assumption that you had found something new to me. This Jack Gardner died in 1890.
