Dennis --

Can identify one of the two men mentioned. Rives is Nathaniel G Rives, Co "G", 154th Tennessee Regt., wounded and captured at Shiloh. He was not exchanged until April 1863.

Your identification of J R Turney, Co "I", 2nd Confederate Regt., appears to be correct. The service file lists this man as killed at Shiloh. The 2nd Confederate Regt was known in the field as Martin's 25th Mississippi Regt. A prisoner of war record was filed with the 2nd Mississippi Regt, which puzzled clerks working for general Ainsworth a century ago. Possibly the pow record should have been recorded under 25th Mississippi, and the number 5 on the original was somehow obscured.

J R Turner/Turney definitely doesn't belong to the 2nd Mississippi Regt. I also checked 2nd Mississippi Battn.

Any other names?
