yes there 's nothing like a solid POW record coming from a different source. Tennessee records are simply so shattered and scattered by their special circumstances I guess--not having a state capital for a stable archives and so much records loss. You are certainly familiar with the NC Troops publication effort--much better corpus of records, also there is a new four volume SC history which is not a roster but an excellent coverage. What is likely needed is some sort of Wiki-like cooperative effort to build on Tenn. in the Civil War--a good start but a limited tho high quality effort. Folks like you have been willing and able to delve more deeply. The danger of course is getting distracted by the outlying finds that don't fit the paradigm. Just alluring rabbit trails methinks. In my youth I wanted to be the Confederate Frederick Dyer (Compendium of the War of the Rebellion), a Cedar Rapids insurance man who is credited with compiling what is said to be the most substantial single-person organizational history for federal units and command structure. Spent way too much time and finally took the cure and gave it up, focusing on Confederate Engineer Troops. A really nice wiki project would be to amass a master guide to surviving field command records (brigade and up) to get a firm handle on what does survive and where it is to be found, as well as a related bibliography on published treatments and primary diaries and the like of staff officers.
