Thus far, I have positively identified 134 soldiers total that escaped with NB Forrest. This is a far cry from the estimated 700 that went out across Lick Creek. Of those, 50 were from other units. (Some took horses from artillery or wagons and some probably "rode double" to cross Lick Creek.) The problem is that going through the Compiled Military Service REcords for the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry, it does not always say that they "escaped before the surrender". It is much easier to identify the members of the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry that got captured---have found 139 thus far.
