I don't know if the 54th fought at Shiloh but I do know some from this unit was in Corinth at the time. My ggg-grandfather Samuel Todd and two of his friends, George Shaffer and William Rowland, deserted the 54th and joined the 14th Iowa USA a week before the battle at Shiloh. They were captured on the first day of battle and carried to Corinth where Rowland was recognized and executed on Apr 12th.
