The fate of the flag of the 20th NC is somewhat
of a mystery.
A flag reputed to have been that of the 20th NC
was displayed at the NY Sanitary Fair in April 1864.
Captured by the 97th NY it was tagged as Cat.#97.
However, two different Confederate sources claim
that the flag was recaptured later in the day on the
first.
To muddy the waters further a collector has told
this researcher that the flag of the 20th NC captured at G'burg is in private hands.
I have not been able to discover who's hands its in.
Described as a third bunting anv with unit id and
battle honors.
