Would anyone with more acumen than me, care to speculate on where the "high water mark" of the 44th Ala and 48th Ala had been by the end of fighting on Jul 2? (For my sake, use the parking lot below Devil's Den, adjacent to Plum Run, and just South of that drive intersection.) I have wondered if these two regiments were co-mingled at the time, or if they maintained their unit cohesion.
I have come to fix the death site of my great, great granduncle, Pvt Paul D. Kyzer of the 44th Ala, as the center of that very parking lot. I have nothing to substantiate this fanciful speculation. Also, did the fighting stop when night fell?
