Thanks very much for this information about the involvement of the 47th Alabama especially Company B. My ancestor, John W. Simmons lost his two eldest sons on that day and my direct ancestor, Tillman S. Simmons lost his two elder brothers. The family back home in Tallapoosa County, Alabama never saw them again. Henry had been married and left a widow back home. I do not know if Allen was ever able to communicate with his family after capture and imprisonment at Ft. Delaware. He died there in October of 1863.
I visited the Gettysburg battlefield in 2009 while I was enroute to a travel contract in Connecticut. I have photos I took at the battlefield. I took many from Little Round Top.
