I'm sorry that I don't have the answers you are requesting. However, I would like to say thank you for posting the information. I found it all very interesting!

And, you are correct that the Confederacy turned out many more uniforms, and the the Confederates were better uniformed, than has commonly been believed.

In fact, the most common problem with those who were not well uniformed was that their initial uniform wore out and they could not be resupplied. This was not for lack of replacements, but for lack of transportation to the front.

And, it seems from the anecdotal evidence that when a soldier came home on furlough, he could not be reuniformed as an individual...so those on furlough scrounged whatever they could find to take back to the front.

There is ample evidence that Lee's Army of Northern Virginia was very well uniformed when it surrendered. There is also very good evidence that Forrest's cavalry was very well uniformed.

And furthermore, there is very good evidence that there was a huge supply of uniforms in warehouses on the home front at the end of the war.
