Columbus Depot Uniforms
Sat Jul 7 12:57:30 2001
Lee, Were any "Columbus Depot" uniforms made with any trim other than dark blue? It seems odd to me that no uniforms were made for the artillery or cavalry. Obviously many more were needed for the infantry, but there were substantial numbers of artillery and cavalry troops in need as well.I suppose that infantry trimmed jackets could have been issued to them as well and they would have been very glad to get anything at all issued, but it seems odd to me that the effort was made to trim the jackets with infantry color only. Maybe they made some plain for the other services? I know that many jackets referred to as "Alabama Depot" were made with no trim at all.
Could you give the website address for COMPANY OF MILITAY HISTORIANS? I would like very much to read the articles that you mentioned.
