Blue overcoats source.

Here's the source of my information: "Tuskaloosa's Own", by Beasley S. Hendrix, Jr.

I have his phone number in my files...somewhere. If you would like to talk directly with him, I'll search for it.

From looking at the bibliography, it appears that his source is the unpublished papers and interviews of M. Clinton, a locally renowned 19th Century historian.

Here's some quotes from the book:

"These [blue overcoats] were worn by our men until the close of the war."

"From Iuka the men moved to Columbus [Miss.] where clothing for most of the men awaited them. The clothing had been delivered by Alex Dearing and John Bartee, who had been sick on furlough in Tuscaloosa." (It is unclear from the text exactly when this was, but it appears to be just before the end of the war.)
