Hayes LoweLockett's City GuardsMon Feb 5 11:08:07 2001 This unit was first formed as Selma City Guards and was used as a Provost guard unit. In 1863, it was transferred to Talledega and renamed the Talledega City Guards. I don't know if it was still serving there as a Provost guard unit, or not. My guess is that it was used in some capacity for the training of troops. Maybe it was the "military police" for Talledega Camp of Instruction? It is also known as Lockett's City Guards and Alabama City Guards.Talladega City Guards Alan J.
