I'm just trying to ferret out some details that we can prove or disprove. Whether John T. embellished the truth or not I don't know but the FCTC was a commission of lawyers who did not just take the word of the applicant but checked records and got other substantiating testimony for each claim. Yes, John T. was qualified to get allotment land because he was Choctaw and yes, that was one of the reasons most applicants began the process of enrollment. John T. was denied enrollment at first but after they checked records of his aunt and uncle, he was admitted and it was agreed that his testimony was accurate as to his blood quantum.
Yes, Nittacachee was the father of Ambrose Williams - no argument about that. The question is whether Nittacachee's aka was also Ambrose Williams. And, where did that name come from and why did Nittacachee name his son that. In other words, I'm searching for the next generation back or Nittacachee's father and mother to see where that leads me on the answer to my question about the name Ambrose Williams.
Back to some of John T's testimony. He testified he had an aunt and uncle, Sopa and George, who were full bloods and on the rolls. Apparently, Nittacachee married more than once as the FCTC verified this through documentation of Sopa and George and this was the reason they reversed their denial of John T.
This is all very interesting but it does give some further insight into the family.
