Re: Texas Indians in the Civil War

Thanks for your reply about the brothers Blount. The soldiers you mention are caucasion. I have been able to locate my ancestor, Bill Blount and his brother John Blount in Captain Beasley's Company K, Morgan's Texas Cavalry. Indians in Company K saw duty in Arkansas and later in the City of Magnolia, Texas witnin a few miles of Palestine, Texas in Anderson County. Magnolia is now a ghost town with Texas marker.

The duty at Magnolia included building and handling flatboats at the once busy riverboat landing on the upper East Fork of the Trinity River. Corn was the major products being transported south to a cannery where the corn became part of the military food supply. These Indians later joined with Parson's Company and saw saw active military duty in Arkansas until dismounted and returned back to Texas.

Thanks to everyone who offered finding tips that helped me locate my ancestors and link them as Apalachicola Creek Indian emigrants from Florida (AKA Seminole).
