Clydene:
How lucky you are to have a Chief in your family history. The Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek if full of information about your ancestor. He was very high in the Nation because of his place in the signature list. It also mentions him in connection with Mushulatubbe getting a land grant plus $250 per year so long as they are chiefs. Another interesting point is that Natticache's son is named Henry Groves and the government grants him a section of land adjoining that of his father. If you have not already done so, you may want to look up the list of Captains mentioned that are assigned within the Nation (not to exceed 99). You may have a relative listed there. Also, there were 20 warriors assigned to Cpt. Wayne who would receive $25 per year. This was probably a standing police force, as we call them, Light horsemen. There may be a relative listed here, too. When Treaties listed certain classes they were usually enumerated and you may find the list in Philidalphia at Tribal HQ or in the National Archives (Might try Ft. Worth, TX they have most of the Indian Records).

Wow, you are lucky that the Treaty is so specific. Go back and study it line by line, something may jump out at you. Finding Chief ancestry is a lot easier than just an "Indian person" since more is written about them. Remember, it was the Americans that could not spell. Well, If you already know these things, perhaps you can write back and tell me specifically what phase of history you are looking for on concerning your ancestor. I do a lot of reading and just may locate something. What is your research goal?

Congratulations on your finding so far,
