Scott, my folks were in Company A. My GGF, Lemuel H. Boring, and two of his brothers, Alexander N. Boring, (4th Sgt.)and Francis A. Boring, were also in Co. A. Lemuel died at Seven Pines, possibly of illness, as he was in hospital and buried in Richmond. Francis was wounded at Spottsylvania, and captured in Roswell, GA, while home on recuperative leave, in July 1864. He spent a year at Camp Douglas. Alex was captured at Cedar Creek October 19, 1864, and was in Point Lookout for eight months. Both were paroled in Late June 1865.

Someone in Texas sent me a picture years ago of an 18th soldier in uniform, but I haven't been able to find it. Maybe he'll see this and post it. If you ask on the Texas Board, someone associated with the Texas Brigade might help, as they are still friendly with the 18th, from their time in the Texas Brigade, through Antietam. I have always assumed they were armed with Enfields, but don't know for sure. Stan
