I have been researching an individual who died in New Zealand; Alexander
John Kennedy. He was a Captain in the Georgia 19th Regiment. You know him as
A. J. Kennedy. He later migrated to New Zealand, became a miner. Kennedy was
discovered dead at the age of 62, apparently from a self inflicted wound in
the arm which caused him to bleed to death. Kennedy was understood, from what
he frequently related to friends, that he had been an officer in the Confederate
army during the American Civil War; which was true.

Alexander John Kennedy’s death was assigned the date his body was found,
January 6, 1903 and he was buried on January 7, 1903 in the Inangahua Cemetery
at Inangahua Junction, Buller, New Zealand.
