The Georgia in the Civil War Message Board

The Robert Farmer matter.

I would highly recommend that everyone who reads Gray's message, and especially his comments:
"In response to the "Farmer" incident, Mr. Foenander accused me of forgery and worse, even after I contacted the Director of the Georgia State Archives, who then personally sent me a letter apologizing for the "forgery" made by a member his own staff; which was sent to me. Mistakes are made and only through the cooperation of researchers can mistakes be avoided and/or corrected; but reliable documentation must be provided for a mistake to be corrected." to go to the Amy Hedrick web site, ROBERT FARMER FAMILY IN AUSTRALIA, relating to the entire exchange of e-mails between Amy, Gray and several others relating to the Farmer episode, and Gray's refusal to rely on documentation throughout the entire exchange of messages. (at http://www.glynngen.com/history/people/farmer1/email.htm) If the reader will go to my only message shown at Amy's site, dated April 29, 2009 (the messages are arranged chronologically), they will note that, nowhere in my message to Amy, after I discovered the forgery of the Georgia Archives document, did I state that Gray was responsible for the forgery. I only referred to the fact that he was passing around the document, and that I had received it from one of the persons Gray had sent it to, and noted, immediately, that it was a forgery. In fact, if one will continue reading the subsequent exchange of messages, one will clearly see that it was Ms Hedrick herself who assumed that Gray had forged the document, and that she subsequently apologized for this error. As with everything else concerning any research by Gray, he constantly misreads, assumes, confuses the facts, and just does not read through each and every notation. That is why Ms Hedrick was getting ever so frustrated with him. Gray subsequently took up an assumed name, Mason Simmons, and tried to belittle my nativity, and other facts about me. He at first denied that it was he who did this, but, coincidentally, Ms Amy Hedrick did some investigating of her own, and found out that Gray and Mason Simmons had the very same ISP number, indicating that the messages being sent were coming directly from Gray's own location.
Gray wants us to cooperate with him in research on the veterans, but we (the Queensland Round Table, the ACW Round Table of Australia, and even a vast number of professional researchers who know him for what he really is) all know that he can never get the facts right, and, to this very day, makes errors, assumptions, and major mistakes on the veterans. I especially refer readers to the FIND A GRAVE web site, and especially to Gray's entries on several of the supposed veterans he has listed (such as Hughes, Crawley, Cawte, Joseph John and several others), and it will be noted that he does not bother to locate military, pension, census and other records to ensure full accuracy.
