Good info, wish I had more info from Crawfords letters. I don't know where Fagan's family was at this time, not sure if they remained in Benton but I doubt it, although Crawfords remained there in Saline County. Don't think I have ever heard. As post script after the war....during Brooks Baxter War Fagan became a militia general for Brooks and Crawford was appointed militia general for Baxter. A letter was printed in the Gazette by Crawford and 3 other prominent Benton Confederates stating they wished Fagan had been killed in the last battles and remembered as a hero than for him to have stooped to such a low level as he had by joining Brooks. The close friendship since right after the Mexican war was never to be resumed. Crawford died in 1874 right at end of Brooks-Baxter conflict
