The Official Records (41-1-647) state that Col. Crawford was given command of Slemon's Brigade (Col. Slemons had just been captured at Mine Creek) as MG Price furloughed Slemons Brigade to return directly to Arkansas on 11-10-64 (a few days after crossing the Arkansas River in Indian Territory, IT) rather than remaining with Price and his remaining Missourians as they retreated on southwest to Boggy Depot and Texas. Crawford's Regiment was a part of Slemons Brigade. All four of MG Fagan's Arkansas Brigades had then been furloughed and had left Price's remaining army. So MG Fagan now had no command with him, other than his personal escort, by the time Price reached Perryville IT on 11-13-64.

Perhaps your note that Co B of Crawford's regiment was still serving as Fagan's personal escort at Perryville, as you say it did when it was an independent company at the Battle of Helena in 1863.

The last report (41-4-1067) that I know of regarding MG Fagan and his escort (on Price's Raid) was on the night of 11-19-64, as Fagan was camped 30 miles northwest of Ft. Towson on a road different than the Boggy Depot-Ft. Towson/Doaksville road that Col. Tyler and his 4,000 or so Missouri recruits were marching on. They were reported to be 30 miles west of Ft. Towson on the same night, bound for Doaksville, and Clarksville TX. All were being sent supply wagons on the 19th from Ft. Towson by MG Maxey, and all successfully completed their respective marches. However, it is not clear that Fagan and his escort met his supply wagons, nor the route they actually took to Arkansas.

Any commentary from the diaries or service records of Fagan's men on this march in November 1864 thru Indian Territory would be greatly appreciated.
