Alan, you're absolutely correct. My daughter took post-graduate training as an archivist and, as she explained it to me, publicly-funded museums, archives, etc., adhere to very strict protocols when examining and cataloging artifacts and documents. So-called political correctness is not part of those protocols.

Privately-funded museums do not necessarily follow the same protocols. Some do, some don't. It depends in great measure on who the backers and benefactors are.
