I recently found information on ancestery.com about my great-great-great grandfather Valentine Fauber being a member of the 136th Regiment of the Virginia Militia. There seems to be many knowledgable people on this site that have access to records and information on this topic. Any information on this name being a member of the Militia?

I have also traced another side of my family to another great-great-great grandfather Silas Nathanial Self, who was a member of the 32nd Battalion which later became known as the 24th Virginia Cavalry, Company H. I am really interested in looking up my past relatives and tracing their history. Lots of fun!

I have been able to trace one of my great grandfathers back to the Revolutionary War.....name Martell LeSueur who fought in the company of Captains George Markham
Thomas Harris, Robert Hughes, Edward Mumford, Obadiah Smith, and Isaac Porter. I am not sure why it was necessary to include this much information in the records of the War, but that is how I found it. Why is the Captains he fought under so important?
