I am also researching my family history, and it appears that my great-great-great grandfather, John E. Townes, was a Captain in Company A, 3rd Regiment, 7th Brigade, Virginia Militia.

Does anyone here have any more information on him? I know where he is buried and his descendants obviously, but I cannot find any more info on his Civil War career. Any help would be fantastic.
