Hi, I'm Terry and I've been researching my family's military history going back to the Revolutionary War. I noticed you mentioned two of my 4th great uncle's Thomas and Augustine Dellinger and I'm assuming that Simon and the others were likely cousins. I'm only researching grandparents out to uncles . I'm trying to find any photographs of company F or, the Regiment or, pictures of the regimental Battle Flag.
Interesting side note, Thomas and Augustine's uncle Christian, was in the Revolutionary War, their Grandmother is a DOR and an uncle served in the Virginia militia during the War of 1812. But what amazes me is that their brother Joseph Dellinger my 4th Great Grandfather moved to Indiana with his wife and children. One of them was named for his brother Thomas, the other was John Henry. Joseph Dellinger served as a private in the 51st Indiana Infantry, Thomas was a private in the 13th Indiana volunteer cavalry, John Henry was a private in the 58th Indiana Infantry.
Sarah Cash Dellinger was Joseph's wife was pregnant with her 11th child when Joseph went off to war. Sarah gave birth to Levi in June and found out that her younger brother Private Isaac Cash a member of K company known as the Shenandoah Sharpshooters, 33rd Virginia Infantry was wounded on the 28th of August near Manassas and then again in the following January. In 1864 both of her sons Thomas and John enlisted. So, in essence her husband, two of her sons, her brother and two brother-in-laws were at war with each other. You hear about this but you never think it could be your family.
Thank you, let me know if picture can be found or where to look.
