His two card service record cards are listed under the name T. S. Tipton, the first is a Regimental Return of August 1864 which records him as a Private in Company E, Bourland's Border Regiment Texas Cavalry, Absent - "To drive beef," the second is reference to a War Department correspondence with the Texas State Confederate Pension Commissioners dated August 22, 1916, which lists his name as Phylander S. Tipton, McCollough's Western Division, Bolen's Reg., B. F. Totty's [F. M. Totty] Company

His widow, Sarah Ann filed a Confederate Widow's Pension Application from Wichita County, it was rejected. Husband Phylander S. Tipton

You may procure her pension application papers and his records through the service noted in the red enclosed box above.
