I just did some research on one of Gatewood's men, Calvin Jones Andrews, who killed William J. Lawton, a Confederate turncoat who had also been a Jessie Scout. Lawton's men wore Confederate uniforms on their raids, and he worked for General Thomas, being attached to the 4th Michigan Cavalry. Lawton's ID disc was recently dug in Virginia, where he probably lost in while he was a Jessie Scout working for General Stahel.
