In that time, a great deal of the information I've collected has come from fellow descendants in the form of original letters, family records and even a few period photos.
As for other primary/secondary printed source materials, if you'll scroll through to the bottom of the page <http://www.alabama37th.com/sources.htm> you'll find an extensive list of materials there that I've used in my work. The most complete look would probably be that included in the late Rex Miller's book "Dowdell's Volunteers" (although it is long out-of-print and hard to find as it was a self-published work of limited numbers). It was a wonderful starting point for my research, and with the help of more than 200 other descendants I've corresponded with over the years, I've been able to add more to what Mr. Miller was able to compile a much better portrait of this unit.
The biographical sketch I've prepared for your wife's ancestor, G.W. Lee is included on the page <http://www.alabama37th.com/bios-knig-lonn.htm>. If you, or she, would like to correspond privately, my email is <cculpepper@aristotle.net> or <chip@manganholcomb.com>.
I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss any and all findings on this regiment, or any corrections/additions you might have.
Cordially,
-Chip
