Re: Matthew R. Baynes, possibly CSA

Linda, I'm curious as to why you are researching our Matthew R Baynes military history, since he does not seem to be related to you. The records we have found lead us to believe he was born in Alabama, signed up to fight in Alabama, fought, married in Alabama, (my ggrandmother and a brother or two may have been born there) and then they moved to Clarke County, MS for the rest of his life.

I say I am the family genealogist because my brother Jerry has been researching the history of Shubuta, and Clarke County, MS along with its military history. He records the facts that he finds, but he does not have the details of the genealogy without my help. He has done the actual graveyard footwork. This past year I have been lucky to be connected to four other families descended from this Matthew Baynes, and one of them has the pension records. SWaller637@aol.com
