Not noted in the transcription above is "N". R. Baynes (CO B /1st. Al Inf) who is listed at this site.

M. R. Baynes of Clarke County, MS filed for a Confederate pension citing service in the 1st. AL Infantry & 37th. MS Infantry.

It appears to me, "N". R./ M. R. Baynes/Baines are all the same and the reference to the 1st. AL Infantry could mean the 1st. Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi Infantry aka 4th. Confederate Infantry. His pension records could provide the clue.
