Bayne, Company F, 4th Confederate Infantry (1st Regiment Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi Infantry) After exchange in September 1862, the companies were reorganized and four were transferred to the 42nd Regiment Tennessee Infantry and six to the 54th Regiment Alabama Infantry. Cards filed with Matt R. Bane.

Private Matt R. Bane enlisted in Alabama, Company F, 1st Regiment Alabama, Tennessee & Missisippi, captured at Island No. 10, April 8, 1862, forwarded to Camp Randall, Madison Wisconsin, thence to Camp Douglas, Illinois June 9, sent to Vicksburg for exchange September 1862, no further records

I could not locate him in the rosters of either the 42nd Tennessee nor the 54th Alabama
