Casey,

Private Hays only said that when Blunt was shot the cavalrymen of the 1st Cavalry MSM who killed him said they "recognized Blunt as an officer by his dress." The closest Hays said about Blunt's appearance was "I saw the gentleman lying at full length on a plank, as dead as a mackerel..." I looked back through my file on Blunt and I found nothing about his appearance at all. This leads me to believe that he was ordinary in appearance, at least for a guerrilla. At least the Colorado trooper recognized him lying on that plank at the Welch house, so he was recognizable to someone who last saw him at least three to ten years earlier.
