Thanks for the info regarding Capt. Kelso! Things are better falling into place now! I see from Capt. Kelso's records on ancestry.com that he was "dropped" from the 2nd Louisiana Infantry on April 30, 1862. I assume that he returned to Louisiana at this time. Steve Mayeaux and I have discussed his role at Ft. Derussy some. I am wondering if my great, great grandfather was one of the 14 men that went into Company A! I also recently obtained a copy of a painting of Capt. Kelso in uniform from the Mt. Olivet Cemetery staff here in Pineville, if you would like a copy of that.

I will be sending the information on Pvt. Valentine to your Crescent Regiment e-mail address as soon as I get it together. Our family would be happy for you to post it on the "virtual cemetery."
