Yes, I am aware that Gaines Street could possibly be part of The Civil War era Gaines Landing Road and that Gaines Street in Dermott could be part of this original road as well. For the past few months I have concentrated more research towards this area in an effort to locate the parade ground. If Gaines Street is part of the old road, the big question is where did the road connect over to the Old Dermott highway that runs through Collins and was there an area suitable for drilling several thousand soldiers?
