Regarding James Boykin I have a letter from headquarters district ofAlabama dated January 2nd 1861 that reads special order 6 to Captain James Boykin commanding company of Alabama mounted volunteers will proceed to Dog River to report to Major hollinquish by order of brig gen withers signed h. A. Gent
Any idea what happened here? George Martin indicated there are two James Boykin James was friends with general hagan. They went to the Mexican war together. I have a letter and an early 20th century history book that says as much. Hagan also mentions that James was promoted to staff. Did he go to Gladdeus staff as George Martin says and if so what did he do?
