My ancestor James Giles is reputed to know Daniel Ellis, I don't know how. James Giles fought valiently for the South until late 1863. After a duel with an officer he took shanks mare. He must have liked fighting for some way, some how he wound up in an unionst TN regiment where he again fought a duel with his commanding officer.
