"joined the 50th Tenn USV" The 50th TN was a Confederate infantry regiment organized from men of Middle Tennessee. There were 10 TN Union infantry regiments and 14 TN Union Cavalry regiments and several battalions of troops. Almost all Union soldiers were from East Tennesse. This thread is missing a huge element. Tennessee, then and now, is generally divided into three regions, West, Middle, and East. There never has been an "eastern west TN". Ft. Henry and Ft. Donelson were in Stewart County, Middle Tennessee near the KY border. Middle TN was predominantly pro-Southern and Confederate even during the Occupation. Western Tennesse was even more prone to be Confederate. Approximately 80% of TN soldiers were Confederates. Okay, carry on......
