Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the note! Very glad to hear that you're still "walking on the sunny side." That's a very impressive obituary of your dad, a true American hero and one reason why his generation was called America's greatest. Please accept my belated condolences and thanks from just one of millions of beneficiaries of his life of service.

I enjoyed reading the others' comments about their relatives'' service in WW2. Warriors and heroes every one. Sadly, dwindling numbers these days seem to really value and appreciate their sacrifices and service. I suppose the same could be said for many in the generation they sired, due in some measure, as pointed out, to the fact that combat vets rarely opened up to those who couldn't "understand" what they'd been through. These quiet heroes were so much a part of the fabric of growing up in the 1950s, that one simply took them for granted in one sense. But as they began to pass, many of us have come to share the usual regret of failing to capture the oral history when we had the chance. This is also true with non-history buffs as I've seen.

At any rate, thanks again for your note. Best wishes to you ( and also to David, Joe, Doyle, Danny and the other regulars on the board) for peace, health and successful research in 2015.
