Yes sir, the 38th Arkansas recruited mostly in Lawrence, Craighead, Independence and Fulton counties. My family has lived in Sharp (formerly part of Lawrence) county since Territorial times. Pretty unimaginative folks -- found a reasonably nice place to live and never had the desire to expand their horizons. My dad was the first of our line to leave Sharp County.
