Texas military hospital - Quitman, MS

Hello,

I am seeking details on the Texas military hospital set up in Qutiman, MS in late 1862. This stayed in existence through 1863 and treated the Texas troops in the Vicksburg Campaign.

In particular I am interested in the exploits of Charles M. Owen of the 2nd Texas Infantry who was detached from the regiment to serve in this hospital as a nurse in December 1862. He stayed there until December 1863. A flag of the 2nd Texas has turned up that is said to have been saved from capture by Owen at Vicksburg but in his CSR there is no Vicksburg parole notice like in so many other files of that regiment. So the question here is this - was he coming and going from Vicksburg taking wounded from the city during the campaign to Quitman? Or was he indeed captured with the rest of the regiment and garrison and saved the flag from capture = in which case where is his parole notice?

Any help is appreciated.
