Re: Welsh Plantation
In Response To: Welsh Plantation ()

I believe this was the Michael Welch Plantation'Lattania' (possibly mispelled,or, that is how Latanier was sounded and spelled in 1864) that Welch sold in 1860 to William H. and Jonn Osborne, about 10 miles from Alexandria (which side of the river ? presumably the Latanier Bayou side),and farther down river was the Thomas Jefferson Stafford Plantation that was not as far as Wilsons Landing.(father of Gen. Leroy Stafford of Cheneyville) but I do not know the exact location (today's) of either one. That could explain why Porters map is labled wrong.
Wilsons Landing could be either Mrs Olivia Wilson, Levi Wilson, or Alexandria Wilson,...I'm presuming this location was around Wilson's Point of taday.
