On 5.13 General Wm. Dwight sent the following message 10 miles from Alexandria-
General Lucas is 3 miles in front of me skirmishing with the enemy as he tries to remove the obstructions.
The enemy is positioned 7 miles from Lucas.
The road that Smith will come in from and unite with this one is 1/2 mile to my front.
I shall occupy that road tonight.
Q=Presuming that A.J. Smith is departing from Alexandria shouldn't A.J. be behind Gen. Dwight on (old-new) Hwy.1 ?
Q=What road is Gen. Dwight speaking of and from what point did Smith forces depart frrom ?
Q= Is it A.J. or T. Kilby Smith forces ?
