The Middleton family was one of seveal large and influencial families of the South Carolina Lowcountry. The Manigaults were one of the Huguenot families. I'm descended from some of these including LaRoche and Jenkins (of which Gen Micah Jenkins is one).

I was told about this and found this discussion very interesting as I'm working on a history of the 10th South Carolina of which I'm also a reenactor in the 10th SC reenactors.
