Agree, he was replaced as Colonel of the regiment by Lt. Col. Henry McCord on December 2, 1863. He had been on sick furlough August-October, 1863. The Nov/Dec, 1863 F & S muster roll is missing from the records which must have recorded his departure.

He died March 11, 1896 and is buried in King Cemetery, Mulbery, Crawford County, Arkansas
