Re: For Bryan Howerton 4th Arkansas State Troops.

A.S. Cabell's father-in-law was Col Derosey Carroll. Cabell's marriage record shows his residence as Ft Cobb, Indian Territory which is where his older brother Capt W.L. Cabell AQM was stationed before the war. It appears A.S. Cabell was quartermaster for McIntosh's Brigade in early 1862 and then sent to Bonham TX by Hindman. A.S. Cabell was quartermaster for the Indian Territory under BG William Steele in 1863 and promoted to major during that time. At some point he is sent to San Antonio until the end of the war, apparently dealing cotton for the Trans-Miss Dept.
