Re: Charles Bolivar (C.B.) Humphries of White Coun

Thanks, Bryan. Speculation and assumption are about the same! We are almost certain that he never returned home, if he did, he hid out and kept it a secret. He and wife and children were listed in the 1860 Census, but, only his wife Mary Jane (M.J.) and the children were listed in the 1870 census. He could have been one of the many who died from "illness" during this time, could have been killed in battle, could have been captured, could have deserted, changed his name and returned to White County, there just seems to be no record after the June 1862 enlistment date. I have researched all of the Union prison records available and he doesn't appear on any of the rolls that i have been able to locate. My Humphries ancestors were capable of accomplishing some amazingly smart, sneaky acts, maybe he simply disappeared to the rest of the world and lived in White County until old age overtook him! By the way, this site is amazing, I am soglad it was pointed out to me the other day, and I certainly appreciate all the ideas and comments that have already been given by the members!
