Re: Charles Bolivar (C.B.) Humphries of White Coun

You're right, Jack. Disregard the record of Charles B. Humphries of Crawford's regiment. This man (or boy) was a resident of Ouachita County, born c1846 in Arkansas. He enlisted in Co. A, 10th (aka Crawford's 1st) Arkansas Cavalry, at Camden, Arkansas, on January 12, 1863. There were no known White County men in Crawford's regiment, which was composed almost entirely of men from south Arkansas.

The record of Charles Bolivar Humphries is a puzzle. He is listed on the initial muster-in roll, but not on subsequent rolls. Obviously, he was dropped from the rolls, but the reason for being dropped is normally indicated on the last roll on which he is listed; however there is no such reason given in his case. I can only speculate that he was, for some reason, rejected for service shortly after being sworn in. If such was the case, it would have been as if he had never actually entered the service, and thus would not require an explanation on subsequent rolls. However, speculation doesn't really help your research, so I'll have to yell "uncle" in this case.
